  • Search and Product Detail Page for Electrical Component Reseller

Pioneering headless commerce site using AEM, Hybris and Solr

    2014 - 2015

    E-Commerce Search AEM

Distributor of electrical components introduced its online catalog using Adobe Experience Manager for product merchandising and Hybris as the e-commerce engine.

    User Experience and Design

Since the content was tagged with a structured taxonomy our information architecture led is to design an expandable parent category with multi-select checkboxes. Additionally we included "pills" to reflect the user's selected facets.

For type-ahead/suggested search we decided to present a minimum of three and a maximum of seven hits. The user's selection from a drop-down would navigate directly to the search results page with the selected string as the search query. This is another common and familiar interaction.

    Tech Stack

This was one of the first successful launches of what would later be called "headless commerce." The MVP goal was to bring the product catalog online. Years later another team delivered the full e-commerce experience with cart, checkout, shipping, etc.

The majority of product content lived in SAP, integrated into Hybris, which integrated into Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). Product marketing and merchandising content was managed in AEM along with reusable site labels, which were managed in the i18n data dictionary.

All relevant site content was indexed in Solr. Search was the site's primary feature.
